A Leper Healed
Matthew 8:1–4; Mark 1:40–45; Luke 5:12–16
Mk 1:40Then a leper [Lk 5:12a man covered with leprosy] came to Him, and begged on his knees [Lk 5:12fell on his face] before Him, saying, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
41Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched him. “I am willing,” He told him. “Be made clean.” 42Immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. 43Then He sternly warned him and sent him away at once, 44telling him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer what Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
45Yet he went out and began to proclaim it widely and to spread the news, with the result that Jesus could no longer enter a town openly. But He was out in deserted places, and they [Lk 5:15large crowds] would come to Him from everywhere Lk 5:15b–16to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16Yet He often withdrew to deserted places and prayed.

Thoughts: What does the

Sabbath is not commanded for New Testament Christians, practicing Sabbath is an
important way to rest, refocus and revel in the goodness of God.

Text: Luke
5:12-16
Jesus Heals
a Man With Leprosy
12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came
along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his
face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me
clean.”
13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am
willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And
immediately the leprosy left him.
14 Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell
anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that
Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
15 Yet the news about him spread all the
more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their
sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to
lonely places and prayed.

preoccupied that we will settle for a mediocre version of it. We will just skim
