The Savior of the World
39Now many Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of what the woman said when she testified, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40Therefore, when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days. 41Many more believed because of what He said. 42And they told the woman, “We no longer believe because of what you said, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this really is the Savior of the world.”

John 4:39-42
39 And from that city many of the Samaritans believed on him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all things that ever I did.
While Jesus was teaching his disciples, getting them ready to be soul winners, the Samaritan woman was in the city of Sychar telling people about Jesus whom she believed was the Messiah. Many of them believed in Jesus because of her message.
40 So when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days.
When the Samaritans met Jesus, they were in a receptive mind. They urged Jesus and the apostles to come into the city and stay with them. Jesus accepted their invitation and stayed for two days.
41 And many more believed because of his word;
Some had believed because of what the Samaritan woman had said. Now many more believed because of what Jesus said.
42 and they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.
Many of them told the woman that they believed because they had heard Jesus. They were convinced by the teaching of Jesus that he was the Savior of the world. Jesus did not stay and evangelize Samaria at this time. He went on as he had other work to do. A few years later, after the church was established, many in Samaria obeyed the gospel (Acts 8).
