Jesus Heals a Blind Beggar
Matthew 20:29-34
Mark 10:46-52
Luke 18:35-43

How do you respond when a beggar approaches you on the street? Why?
Who is the most famous person you have seen up close? What were the circumstances?
If you knew you had to forfeit one of your five senses, which would it be? Why?

  • God is ... What do we learn about God in this passage?
  • We are ... What do we learn about people in this passage?
  • Matthew's gospel  talks about 2 blind men. Mark gives the beggar a name (Bartimaeus). How would you describe the blind beggar's faith?
  • What is significant about the way the beggar addresses Jesus? How does the beggar show his faith (while the crowd does not)?
  • Luke 18:39 tells us the disciples still fail to see something about Jesus, compared to Luke 18:15, what do they not see about the kingdom?
  • From this historic event, what do you know of the beggar's handicap? His faith? His intensity?
  • Once the beggar was healed, what does he do? Why? How is he different that the rich young ruler?
  • I will ... What has the Holy Spirit revealed to us in this passage? How can I apply it to my life this week?
  • In what ways do you feel spiritually blind? How is your sight better now than six months ago?
  • What is a primary obstacle to spiritual insight in your own experience? How does one prepare his or her heart to hear God?
  • Have you ever felt Jesus was too busy for you? Why? How do we inadvertently communicate that idea to children or people with chronic needs?
  • If Jesus said, "What do you want me to do for you?" how would you say?
  • You can ... Who do you know who needs to hear this? Feel free to share with others by social media links at the bottom of this.
